I don't know that much about Jennifer Lara. I picked up her 1974 record, Studio One Presents Jennifer Lara, back when I was buying every Studio One release I could find. Like many of the studio's early printings, it is a mysterious record. The songs on the record do not completely match those listed on the sleeve. In fact, it seems like every time I listen to it, I hear a slightly different set. But somewhere in the middle I always fall in love with the album all over again. Though when I try to go back I can never pin down the moment it happens.Of course all of this sweet ambiguity is lost in digital translation:
