I consider Back to Black to be the first classic soul album of the twenty-first century. Twenty-three year old Amy Winehouse's throaty gin-soaked voice is drop dead sexy. Her lyrics are surprisingly poetic and clever as well as wonderfully naughty. And her back up band, the Dap-Kings, turn out a solid selection of ska and soul.Mr. Jones |
